Insights from the EU Blockchain Observatory & Forum Conclusion Workshop
Almudena de la Mata, CEO of Blockchain Intelligence, recently contributed her expertise to the EU Blockchain Observatory & Forum (EUBOF) Conclusion Workshop, held at the DG CNECT premises on May 8. At this significant gathering, de la Mata shed light on the topic of “Tokenisation for public policy and citizens engagement: DivAirCity.”
De la Mata’s presentation centered on DivAirCity, an innovative initiative harnessing tokenisation for public policy and citizen engagement. DivAirCity represents a groundbreaking approach to urban air quality management, utilizing blockchain technology to incentivize and reward individuals and businesses for their efforts in reducing environmental impact.
The workshop commenced with a welcome and introduction by Pierre Marro from the European Commission (EC), followed by Tonia Damvakeraki from EUBOF providing a brief overview of EUBOF’s activities since 2020. Marianna Charalambous then presented the 3rd version of EUBOF’s flagship report, detailing the latest developments in the EU Blockchain Ecosystem.
The panel, moderated by Manos Papangelou from EUBOF, featured two other speakers. Mariana de la Roche Wills from Validvent/INATBA explored the convergence of AI and Blockchain, discussing the challenges, opportunities, and practical applications of this intersection. Daniel Szego from Blockchain Architect highlighted the critical role of blockchain in cybersecurity.
Following the presentations, the workshop transitioned into an open discussion on technology trends and the necessary requirements for effective policy interventions. This interactive exchange of ideas underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation in leveraging blockchain for sustainable development and societal impact.
