One of the most interesting cases of use of distributed ledger technologies (DLT) refers to the so-called self-sovereign identity, which is managed by each person individually, without dependence on third parties.
In this document we present the fundamental elements of these technologies, evaluate the possibility of their use in relations with the Spanish public sector and, finally, the conditions for their extension to the rest of the States of the European Union, as well as in relations with the private sector.
