How can blockchain generate trust and citizen participation in sustainable urban projects?
This was the question that guided the conversation between Maite Arcos, General Director of the ESYS Foundation, and Almudena de la Mata, CEO of BlockchAIn Intelligence and member of the boards of AI Cluster and Alastria, in a new session of ESYS Talks.
During the interview, Almudena highlighted the relevance of blockchain technology, explaining how it creates a trusted environment in the digital world and protects sensitive data, including intellectual property and industrial information. She also presented her projects in Latin America and collaborations with the UN, and went into detail about DivAirCity, a EU-funded social innovation platform.
DivAirCity combines blockchain with ESG criteria to strengthen transparency and trust in sustainable urban projects. The platform enables citizens to actively participate in monitoring social and environmental objectives, while administrations and organizations can make real-time, data-driven decisions. The project demonstrates how technology can integrate innovation, social impact, and governance within a single urban environment.
The session showed that blockchain not only transforms technological processes but also establishes itself as a catalyst for trust, transparency, and citizen participation in social and urban impact initiatives.
